Position: Locum Consulting Cardiologist
Location: Launceston, Tasmania
Summary:
Charles Clinic is the largest private cardiology service in Tasmania and is seeking a cardiologist to join our dedicated team. We provide a full range of high-quality cardiology services to the north and north-west of Tasmania as well as a nationally recognised service to isolated communities.
The team at Charles Clinic currently consists of 10 full and part-time cardiologists and specialists. We have an outstanding technical department of 10 echo-sonographers and technicians operating state of the art Phillips imaging equipment.
We are looking for locum placements in 2023 to support our resident Cardiologists in the servicing of our patients from the North, North West and North East of Tasmania.
Required Skills:
Applicants must be registered as a medical practitioner with AHPRA including specialist recognition as a cardiologist.
Remuneration:
Charles Clinic will remunerate at the rate of $2,500.00 per day + GST and provide accommodation and flights.

Charles Clinic are seeking an innovative and highly motivated Director of Cardiac Imaging to lead our department in the provision of contemporary, comprehensive and professional medical leadership, clinical supervision and development in the cardiac imaging services provided to the communities of the North and North West of Tasmania. In the role of Director Cardiac Imaging, you will oversee the following:
- A team of 12 Cardiac Sonographers over 2 sites
- Quality assurance of all diagnostic imaging.
- Professional Development of all clinical staff.
- Collegiate support with the Department of Interventional Cardiology, Department of EP and Pacing and the Principal Director of Cardiology.
- Drive and lead the development of a CT service.
- Drive and lead the development of a cardiac research program.
- Maintain a positive, valued and respected culture for the department and Charles Clinic
Services currently provided by Charles Clinic
- Comprehensive Echo service includes Echo, ESE, EST, Dobutamine, Toe
- Permanent sites in Launceston and Burnie
- Philips supported equipment.
- Provision of Public hospital inpatient service
- Regional outreach services
- Paediatric and congenital services
Suitable Applicants will
- Have a primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College Physicians
- Demonstrated current and senior level leadership hold a fellowship in the field of Cardiac Imaging.
- Have an interest in living and working in a regional centre providing care for the communities of North and North West Tasmania
- Manage and oversee the delivery and quality of clinical services, educational programmes and research
- Oversee and support senior and junior clinical staff
- Will participate in support accreditation requirements

Charles Clinic is a large privately owned, rapidly expanding Cardiology/Specialist Clinic with rooms in Launceston and Burnie.
We are seeking to employ an additional part-time or full-time Medical Typist to join our team.
We are offering in-house and/or remote/working from home options for the right candidate. Remote candidates will need a reliable and speedy internet connection.
If you are a self motivated person with meticulous attention to detail, and would like to join our friendly and supportive team, we would like to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Type all medical letters as dictated by doctors and save on patient files
- Maintain accurate records of letters dictated and typed
- Send letters to addressee via fax/post/Healthlink (or other secure messaging)
- Maintain and monitor process within external typing service
- Any other duties within capabilities as directed
Essential requirements:
- Typing speed minimum 70 words per minute with 98% accuracy
- Ability to produce high quality documents with attention to detail
- Proficiency in all aspects of Microsoft Office
- Previous use of medical software, or ability to acquire sound knowledge
- A positive, professional and engaging manner
- Strong work ethic and self motivation
- Medical terminology: previous experience working in the area of cardiology preferred
- Experience in providing administrative support to a multi-disciplinary team, maintaining privacy and confidentiality
- Maturity to appreciate an ever-changing landscape
- Ability to work autonomously or collaboratively in a focused team
